I decided that my year out would be the time to kill three
birds with one stone, so to speak. First of all, it provided the chance
to travel and see a new culture. Secondly, it was an opportunity to be of
service to the Bahá'í Community - the Bahá'í Faith being my religion - and
finally, I wanted to find out if I was capable of pursuing a career in Primary
Education. Through a Bahá'í institution, the "UK Youth Year of Service Desk",
I was put in touch with Keith Sabri, the then Director of the Townshend
International School in the Czech Republic. After several nerve-wracking
weeks it was arranged that I would go and work in the Primary Department
of the school.
